Project Mobility Prepare for Dakar 2012

Introduction

One of Project Mobility’s most recent endeavours was highlighted on BBC 2’s Top Gear, when their Project Rally team took part in their inaugural rally. This team comprises a diverse group of disabled and able-bodied service members, disabled civilians, volunteers, racing enthusiasts, mechanics and rally experts, all united by their shared goal – they are rigorously training to compete in the world’s most challenging motorsport event, The Dakar Rally.

Details

Project Mobility provides practical assistance and emotional support by converting 4×4 vehicles for use by amputees, or those with disabilities that affect driving. Additionally, the organisation offers wounded ex-service men the opportunity to engage in thrilling off-road Safari experiences, embracing adventure and new challenges.

The Land Rover Freelander, featured in Project Rally’s recent appearance on Top Gear, is equipped with a Safety Devices roll cage. Safety Devices is proud to support Project Mobility in their efforts, including the conversion of a Land Rover Defender 110, and we wish them every success in their important work.
