London to Cape Town World Cup Rally

Introduction

Safety Devices’ Volvo dealer, Rob Henchoz of Amazon Cars, co‑drove his 1970 Volvo 144—equipped with a Safety Devices roll cage—on an epic intercontinental marathon rally from London to the foot of Africa.

Details

The London to Cape Town Rally followed an uncharted route that had never before been attempted and was open to participants who believed they possessed the endurance and determination required to tackle this 8,000‑mile, against‑the‑clock adventure.

The two official charities supported by the 2012 rally were WaterAid, a non‑governmental organisation working on drought relief in East Africa and providing clean water and sanitation to remote communities, and African Revival, a UK educational charity supplying teaching staff and essential equipment to village schools across several countries along the rally route.

Start: Westminster, London UK (Big Ben) 1 January 2012
Finish: Cape Town, South Africa (clock tower): 30 January 2012
