Who are Safety Devices?
Safety Devices International Ltd are a British owned company specialising in the design and manufacture of roll over protection products. With over 50 years of experience, we have become the world’s most trusted designers and manufacturers in the industry.
What does Safety Devices sell?
We offer an extensive selection of roll over protection systems (ROPS) including roll cages, roof racks and accessories. Our products are available directly to various sectors and through our dealer network.
Where are Safety Devices products made?
All of our products are supplied through our development workshop and offices located in the United Kingdom, or our dedicated production facility operating out of Poland. These premises are wholly owned and operated by Safety Devices.
Which quality standards do you employ?
We are renowned for the quality of our products using only the finest, traceable materials, offering proven capability to fabricate roll over protection in line with various industry standards. To ensure that our products meet the highest standards for a wide range of project needs, Safety Devices are ISO9001 certified.

If you cannot find a cage for your vehicle, or are looking for a particular cage configuration, please contact our sales team who can assist you further.
Can I get a replacement Homologation sticker?
Yes, in most instances we can provide replacement Homologation stickers for a small fee. However, please note that in order to provide a replacement we will require detailed images of the roll cage and the serial number stamped on the footplate. The type of roll cage you need depends on your vehicle type and its intended use. Safety Devices offer two types of roll cages: bolt-in and weld-in.
Bolt-in roll cages are supplied as a kit, consisting of the front cage, rear cage, and door bars. These fully welded assemblies bolt together and are mounted to the vehicle with reinforcement plates that generally require welding. You can install just the rear cage section initially, with the option to add the front cage and door bars later. Due to their bolt-in nature, these roll cages can be transferred from one vehicle to another with a new set of reinforcement plates.
Weld-in roll cages, on the other hand, are designed for installation by skilled welders or installers. These “full” weld-in roll cages (not offered as half weld-in) are supplied as a kit and require welding directly into the vehicle. This makes the installation process more time-consuming than bolt-in installations. However, once installed, a weld-in cage cannot be moved from one vehicle to another.
Depending on your intended use for your vehicle, you may also need to consider a Motorsport UK compliant or FIA homologated roll cage, with specific design elements.

What do I need to consider before installing a roll cage?
Selecting the right roll cage for your needs is crucial. Safety Devices roll cages are expertly designed to provide maximum occupant protection while minimizing intrusion into the cabin.
It’s important to consider the trade-off between the car’s functionality and the level of rollover protection offered. A roll cage should not interfere with the operation of existing safety systems, such as curtain airbags. These must be disengaged to prevent unintended deployment.
Remember, ‘show cages’ are not true roll cages. A ‘dash dodger’ with a reverse bend (‘S’ shape) in the front leg won’t offer adequate protection for the A-pillar.
For competition use, ensure the roll cage complies with the regulations set by event organisers or governing bodies, such as Motorsport UK.
What type of harness do I need?
Safety Devices currently offer 3 types of harnesses, 3 point, 4 point and 6 point. The main difference between these harnesses lies in their design and how they secure the occupant.

My Safety Devices roll cage has been damaged, is it possible to get replacement parts?
Yes, please contact us directly should you require replacement roll cage products. However, please note that it’s essential to ensure that any damage has not compromised the integrity of your cage. If your roll cage has experienced anything beyond minor superficial damage, we strongly recommend replacing the entire cage for your safety.
What should I do if I cannot find an authorised dealer in my country?
If you cannot find an authorised dealer located in your country, please contact our sales team who can assist you further.
Can I purchase my roll cage in a colour other than black?
As standard, or unless specified in the product listing, our bolt-in roll cages are provided with black powder coat (colour RAL 9005, MN201D Black Matt Smooth). Our weld-in cages are provided unpainted, but oiled to prevent corrosion.
We offer the option to manufacture bolt-in roll cages in alternative colours, including grey (RAL 7040), silver (RAL 9006S), white (RAL 9010), red (RAL 3020), blue (RAL 5002) or uncoated. Please note that these bespoke orders may incur additional surcharges and longer lead times, as they are manufactured to order. To place a colour change request, please ensure to inform your chosen distributor prior to ordering.
Can I install my own roll cage?
All of our roll cages come with detailed fitting instructions, however this is a very complicated process that involves specific vehicle modifications including welding, cutting and drilling. Therefore we recommend that all cages are installed by professional or experienced personnel.
Some of our roll cages also require Safety Devices approval or installation in order to achieve homologation status. Therefore we recommend checking the roll cage product listings and our roll cage disclaimers for further details prior to purchase.

What type of padding should I use for racing?
In high impact areas, such as around the head and within range of helmet contact, high-density roll cage padding is usually mandatory. Standard padding is also available for door bars and lower impact areas, although this is not always a necessity. We recommend liaising with your race officials to obtain further details on mandatory padding requirements for your chosen race.
How do I know if my roll cage was manufactured by Safety Devices?
Each Safety Devices roll cage is equipped with a unique serial number stamped on one of the footplates. To assist us in verifying the authenticity of your roll cage, kindly contact us with images of the serial number alongside detailed photos of the cage itself. Please note, if the cage has been painted you may need to use a wire brush to carefully remove paint layers and reveal the serial number.

As long as the roll cage is undamaged, our bolt-in roll cages can be transferred to another vehicle of the same model and specification. To facilitate this transition, new floor plates will be needed to replace those welded to the original shell, and we strongly recommend replacing the nuts, bolts, and washers for optimum safety. You can conveniently purchase fitting kits through our Spares and Accessories shop. However, please note that our weld-in roll cages are not transferable once installed in a vehicle.

What is a roll cage or ROPS?
A roll cage or ROPS (Roll Over Protection System) is an internal or external structure installed on a vehicle, designed to protect vehicle occupants by preserving survival space during a rollover incident.
What are your roll cages made of?
The majority of Safety Devices roll cages are manufactured from E355+N Cold Drawn Seamless Carbon Steel. On a number of our internationally homologated weld in roll cages, we also offer T45 as an alternative material. More exotic materials (Chromoly, 15CDV6, Titanium) can also be used in some applications providing regulations allow, however the material costs of these can be significantly higher than E355+N or T45.
Is a roll cage made from T45 lighter than one made from regular CDS tube?
There is a common misconception that T45 is lighter than E355+N / CDS, however, their density is almost identical. However, given that T45 has a tensile strength approximately twice that of the standard CDS (E355+N), if we are conducting stress analysis and homologating a roll cage, we can optimise the design and use a thinner gauge (wall thickness) material, therefore offering a weight saving over a conventional CDS (E355+N) design.

What does “FIA homologated” mean?
The term means that the roll cage has obtained FIA Homologation through the UK ASN, Motorsport UK. The certified design does therefore not need to comply to current Motorsport UK or FIA regulations due to “grandfather rights” of the homologation certificate (certificate copies can be purchased from Motorsport UK).
What does “Complies to Motorsport UK regulations at date of publication” mean?
This term means that the roll cage design, material grade and dimensions comply to Motorsport UK regulations at date of publication, and therefore do not require a homologation certificate. We advise that customers check eligibility with their event organiser and obtain the relevant product specification sheets to confirm roll cage compliance, prior to ordering. Please note, Safety Devices cannot be held liable for Motorsport UK regulation changes that may result in roll cages becoming non-compliant.
What does “Not for competition use” mean?
This term means that the roll cage does not, or no longer complies to current Motorsport UK or FIA regulations, therefore cannot be used for competition use.
What does “Complies to FIA Appendix K regulations at date of publication” mean?
This term means that the roll cage complies to FIA Appendix K regulations at date of publication. We recommend that all customers check regulations with their event organiser, and obtain product specification sheets to confirm roll cage compliance prior to purchasing the roll cage.
What does “Check local regulations for compliance, specification available upon request” mean?
This is term generally used for our USA specification roll cages. It means that we recommend customers check local regulations, and obtain product specification sheets to confirm roll cage compliance prior to purchasing a roll cage.
What does “ONLY Motorsport UK/FIA homologated when installation has been approved by Safety Devices” mean?
This term means that the roll cage has obtained FIA Homologation through the UK ASN, Motorsport UK. However the FIA Homologation certificate can only be issued by Safety Devices upon approval of the roll cage installation (charges apply). Please contact Safety Devices prior to installation if a homologation certificate is required.
What does “Motorsport UK Nationally Homologated when installation has been approved by Safety Devices” mean?
This term means that the roll cage has been Nationally Homologated by Motorsport UK. However the National Homologation certificate can only be issued by Safety Devices upon approval of the roll cage installation (charges apply). Please contact us prior to installation if a homologation certificate is required.

Our roll cage padding is designed to be installed using an adhesive – such as Sikaflex 252 – to bond it to the roll cage tube, or you can fix padding via cable ties. Please refer to the General Fitting Guidelines in the below PDF for further details.
