Safety Devices International Ltd is based in Newmarket, 10 miles east of Cambridge, England, and has been designing and manufacturing roll cages since 1972 when the FIA introduced regulations that all motorsport cars needed roll cages (see history).

The Company is a successful private Limited Company (reg. no. 5331313) run by Gavin Davidson, MD who is also a major shareholder. Chief Engineer Aeron Lloyd and Engineer Chris Platt make up the design team with Gary Houghton looking after quality control and manufacturing.

Most of the Company’s manufacturing is carried out at its factory in Eastern Europe. All product design, testing, sales and marketing is conducted from its HQ in Newmarket.

In 2007/8 the Company manufactured 2,493 cages, and it’s influence is continuing to spread all over the world with sales in Africa, the Middle East, North and South America, Australia as well as all parts of Europe.

The business is spread evenly between motorsport, military and industrial operations. This variety creates a diverse business and one which draws its experience from the widest of arenas. That makes the Company pretty unique and ensures a quality of design that is hard to beat.

The Company is a member of the MIA and FIA Institute, as well as associate member of The Institute of Mechanical Engineers. Moreover it holds ISO 9001 accreditation.
